Cartersville officials gave a brief summary of preparations for winter storm predicted for this weekend before diving into a plethora of agenda items during its council meeting Thursday night.
“We’re trying to be as pro-active as we can,” Cartersville City Manager Dan Porta said.
He said all departments are on standby with a lot of the burden falling on public works to keep roads clear and the electric department to keep power on. Porta said each department has worked through scenarios to be pro-active.
The city government website will have up-to-date information about the storm, problem areas, and new information about roads, power outages, and other information. He said sanitation may delay Monday pickup if the storm makes the roads icy and that decision with the updated pickup day will be on the website.
