Meeting planned for Sept. 23 at Georgia Highlands, 6 p.m.
Local Republican Party leaders are preparing for more to join the GOP over the next year. Bartow County party chair Beverly Peyton said many are seeing more of what each party stands for and are switching from Democratic to Republican.
Peyton said the Bartow County chapter is planning many things to keep newcomers and those interested engaged. It is having candidates as speakers at its monthly meetings. The next meeting planned for September 23 at 6 p.m. at Georgia Highlands will feature Dr. Randall Trammel who is running for state school superintendent..
She and other volunteers are using new tech to determine voter trends and find “low-propensity voters” – those who don’t always vote – to encourage them to vote in upcoming elections. The local chapter has also put a special focus on the youth vote.
Jeff Thompson, vice chairman of events with the Bartow County GOP, said youth are looking for authenticity and ways to participate in something meaningful.
The meeting on September 23 at Georgia Highlands is open to the public. You may want to bring some money to pay for the meal available there if you plan to eat. Peyton is asking for those wishing to attend to RSVP because there is limited space and food.
