The restaurant chain Olive Garden is a step closer to beginning construction in Cartersville. A building permit has been approved, according to city records.
The approval means the restaurant can start construction at any time. However, city officials state there isn’t a timeline submitted for construction or completion.
Many took notice when the old Knight’s Inn on East Main Street was demolished and a sign put up saying “Coming Soon Olive Garden.” Some have been lobbying for years to have the chain establish a presence in Cartersville.
Olive Garden officials haven’t returned the latest phone calls about the project but previously said they wouldn’t comment on when they might begin construction or open.
There are 905 Olive Garden restaurants in North America as of 2023. Darden Restaurant Group owns the Olive Garden chain. Darden Restaurant Group also owns Longhorn Steakhouse, Ruth’s Chris Steak House, the Capital Grille, Seasons 52, Bahama Breeze, Eddie V’s, Yard House, and Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen.
