Only a few days left of the Georgia General Assembly
A host of Republican-sponsored legislation is weaving its way through the Georgia General Assembly but one way citizens can get involved is to report wasteful government spending. They can report that through a link at gambill.com, according to State Rep. Matthew Gambill (R-15).

Gambill (R-15) gave members of the Bartow County GOP an update on Georgia legislation during their county convention held March 22 in Euharlee. The session ends April 4. He said the state is proposing eliminating red tape that hampers small businesses under the Redtape Rollback initiative. The bill to implement it was passed out of committee last week and is before the House.
The alternative are Senate Bills (SB) 77 and 83 which would allow Bartow County and Cartersville voters to approve the measure again but without the opt-out clause. The measures were drafted after both the Bartow County and the Cartersville boards of education opted out, allowing them to raise taxes above the cap. There is a five-year sunset on the cap. Both bills are in conference.
State Sen. Ed Setzler (R-37) said the senate passed a bill to eliminate all state income tax on retirement income for veterans. It still needs to clear the House. He also said there is an effort to challenge college requirements determining what advanced placement (AP) students learn to get accepted.
He said college boards have a political agenda that motivates the way they teach subjects like history. The primary agenda is to diminish religious faith, he said.
