Bartow County Commissioner Steve Taylor wrapped up contracts and appointments during the last commissioner’s meeting for the year on Wednesday Dec. 3.
An Emerson Streetscape Project task order was presented. The project is a cooperative effort between the City of Emerson and Bartow County. It includes sidewalks and other improvement projects. The streetscape project has been in the planning stages for months as government officials solicited input from citizens and hired Stantec Consulting Services Inc. to help manage the project.
Peter Olson gave an update on a property purchase for a new fire station. Bartow County has been developing a plan to expand stations into Kingston and Taylorsville where older stations located in city buildings are needing significant repairs.
In other business:
The commissioner was given information on a total of 31 alcohol license renewals for 2026.

Carlos Calhoun to the Bartow-Cartersville Second Joint Development Authority
Ronnie Evans and Paul Battles to the Bartow-Pickens Joint Development Authority
Jane Drew and Cindy Williams to the Tourism Council/Convention & Visitors Bureau
Boyd Morris Jr. to the Zoning Appeals/Variance Board
Several contracts and applications were presented including the Third Army Road alignment agreement with Paulding County, the Transit Trust Fund FY 2024 Supplemental Agreement #2, a 2026 grass cutting contract, and a GEFA Decentralized Wastewater Funding Application.
