The opening weekend of travel ball is a sign of spring and it began in two North Georgia cities with the PSA Tournament Series.
The 8U Coach Pitch Championship was held at Westside Park in Rocky Face on Saturday and Sunday. A similar event was held in Rome as well.
PSA is an organization coordinating tournaments to enhance competitive sports like baseball, basketball, and softball in North Georgia. Spring is when the baseball tournaments began. The organization seeks to offer affordable and high-quality events for youth and parents to enjoy and improve their skills.
The tournament in Dalton was for boys in multiple age groups for those 17 and under. It had a three-game guarantee and was Exposure Certified. The Rome tournament was for boys 14 and under and had a 4-game guarantee.
These types of tournaments allow youth to get a lot of exposure playing ball on the field rather than sitting from the dugout as might happen on some school or recreational teams. It gives guarantees of play so they can improve their skills.
The next PSA tournament series will be Around the Horn set for March 2-3 in Dalton. Those interested in getting their boys involved can click here to find contact information near you.
