In Lindale, GA this weekend, drivers may have seen a little boy that we now know is named Kayden, holding a poster board sign up that read “Please help me bury my Mama!” Amber Stapley posted the photo to Facebook along with these words:
“This is probably the saddest thing I’ve ever seen
This boys mother passed away and he is standing by the railroad tracks in Lindale trying to raise money for her funeral expenses. To see a child worried about how they are going to bury their mother is heartbreaking.
Donations can be made to Good Shepherd Funeral home. Woman’s name is Shannon Mount.”
A Cartersville man by the name of Garett Howell has stepped up with a donation and he’s taking Kayden to buy a suit and shoes so he’ll look sharp for his mother’s funeral. Here’s a statement from his Facebook post:
“Everyone share and let’s help this kid…
All he had was his mom. The funeral director said that as far as they know there will be no one really even at the funeral. I was asked by someone to get the word out and let’s lay this lady to rest and be there for her son. I don’t have a clue who this lady was but I’m calling all motorcycles (as he loved them) cars or any means of transportation to join up and be there for the kids.”
Craig Meale has stepped up and is calling on all bikers to show up at the funeral this Saturday, July 27 to show this little boy support. I’m awaiting a call from him currently.
Good Shepherd Funeral Home has contributed a significant donation to the cost of the funeral. Andy McGuire, one of the directors at Good Shepherd Funeral Home in Rome, GA said the outpouring of love being shown to young Caleb makes him feel so good about the community.
Any leftover funds donated to the funeral home or via the Go Fund Me account setup on behalf of Kayden, will go to him and the cousin who will be raising Kayden.
The Go Fund Me is up to $9,463.00 as of the time of this writing.
